Vo(i)ces 2 – book cover design
Valentina was commissioned to draw a book cover for the second ‘Vo(i)ces’ poetry book, published by Victorina Press. This is the first sketch.

revuelta popular chile, 2019
This pastel drawing was made by Valentina during Chile’s Revuelta Popular de octubre 2019. As she watched television images of police shooting rubber bullets in young protesters’ eyes, she took to her pastels in solidarity with her people. In the background she sings ‘Las últimas palabras’, the words of Salvador Allende.

This is the second drawing Valentina was commissioned to do for El Sueno Existe Festival, Wales, this time in pastel – an A2 abstract depiction of Victor Jara.

This drawing was an improvised sketch that Valentina made while she listened to a recording of her song Cartas, from the La Pasionaria CD, produced by Mr McFall’s Chamber on Delphian Records. You can hear a snippet of the song in the background

Teresa Wilms Montt was a Chilean writer/poet, born on the 8th of September 1893. She was a talented proto-feminist writer and close friend of Vicente Huidobro. She had a startling beauty and a tragically short life. This pastel drawing tries to convey that beauty.
